CHALCOLITHIC STONE ZOOMORPHIC ALTAR

The recessed flared top forming a shallow basin over a cylindrical body. One side with a face with large hooked nose, small protruding eyes, knobbed brows, and flanking lugs for the ears. Chalcolithic is the name given to the period after the Neolithic and before the Bronze Age, a time which saw the development of the use of copper. Until this time, humankind had only had stones to use for weaponry. It wasn’t until the end of the Chalcolithic  that writing was invented. South of Hauran region, Syria. Early 4th Millenium  BC
